ePublicity & ePromotion for authors is using your computer and its web connection to build brand and emotional ties around you and your books. Publicity is creating buzz through third party organizations and endorsements, while promotion is all the extra more tangible products such as business cards, bookmarks, mugs, sticky notes, and pens.
If you are not using your computer and the Internet you are missing a huge fan base. It's up to you to create a “web presence” for yourself. Many publishers are cutting back on publicity and promotional budgets and leaving this to the authors. Even if your publisher does help on publicize and promoting your book, they will still expect you to do what you can to boost sales.
Here at Night Owl Reviews we do both web and traditional publicity and promotion. We offer authors opportunity to market themselves via interviews, book reviews, book cover spots, banners, debut packages, featured author packages, chats, and more via the website. On top of that we have lots of contests to bring buzz to an authors titles and name. This helps brand you as an author and garner name recognition.
There are multiple ways of tackling the publicity bug. Some authors specifically only target readers who have a strong passion for their genre, while others target all lovers of books or look for key elements of their books that have group associations.

Well you have a lot to do to make sure your book gets picked up off the shelf. Your book is in a stiff competition and you must make it a winner. Many publishers will help with some type of publicity and promotion, but you must do the rest.
